Partners and Team Members

MTS believes that partnering and teaming with the best companies leads to the best project outcomes -- whether specializing in technology, systems integration, finance or program management. MTS has or is teaming with the following companies.

Technology

Magnetic Transport Systems is teaming with Siemens to develop zero emissions freight and passenger rail transportation systems using linear synchronous motor (LSM) technology. Siemens AG (NYSE: SI) is a global leader in electronics and electrical engineering, and operates in the industry, energy and healthcare sectors. For more than 160 years, Siemens has built leading-edge innovations. With 360,000 employees in 190 countries, Siemens reported worldwide sales of $119.7 billion in fiscal 2011. With its U.S. corporate headquarters in Washington, DC, Siemens in the USA reported sales of $22.0 billion and employs more than 60,000 people throughout all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

Siemens' Mobility and Logistics Division in the U.S. is a leading provider of transportation and logistics solutions, moving people and goods efficiently and safely and is promoting and using green manufacturing technologies. Siemens manufactures light rail vehicles for North America at its Sacramento plant - a facility mainly powered by solar energy. Teaming with Siemens as subcontractors are AECOM and Innovative Transportation Systems Corporation.

Engineering/Environmental Consulting

AECOM is the world’s largest engineering and environmental consulting firm specializing in large infrastructure projects to a broad range of markets, including transportation, facilities, environmental and energy. Representing the major ports of the world, AECOM headquartered in Los Angeles Ca., supervised construction of the Alameda Corridor Project.

Finance/Banking

Macquarie Group is a global provider of banking, financial, advisory, investment and funds management services. As an owner and manager of significant community assets, Macquarie works closely with governments around the world to deliver important services including transport, roads, airports and utilities.

Energy/Utility

Southern California Edison (SCE) is the product of more than a century of providing reliable electric service to central, coastal and southern California. The electric power SCE provides includes more alternate and renewable energy (16.7%), from a greater variety of resources, than nearly any other utility in the world.  SCE's Electric Transportation Department is taking a leadership role in helping determine practical and efficient alternative-fuel options – for both on- and non-road vehicles and equipment – to save energy and money.

Technology

MagneMotion, a former teaming member of Magnetic Transport Systems, provides assembly and process automation, material handling, and transportation solutions based on our advanced electro-magnetic technology and controls. At the core of MagneMotion's products and services is a new generation of Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) technology that provides significantly higher performance than conventional transportation and factory automation systems. The company's success comes from a problem-solving approach and years of research focused on creating optimal solutions to address current and emerging market needs. MagneMotion has proven to be the front-runner in providing innovative and cost-effective linear motor solutions sought by industry leaders in the manufacturing and transportation sectors, by major OEMs and by government agencies such as the DOT, DOE, DOD, and NASA.

Technology

Magplane Technology, Inc. ("MTI"), is the developer of the Magplane system. Based in Bedford, Massachusetts, USA, the company was founded in the mid-1990s by a group of MIT engineers who developed the basic Magplane concept. MTI organized and led the efforts of over 30 engineers and scientists from the United States Army Corps of Engineers and 10 leading engineering firms, including Raytheon and MIT Lincoln Laboratory, to further develop the technology under the National Maglev Initiative of the United States Department of Transportation.

Technology

General Atomics, a former teaming member of Magnetic Transport Systems, was conceived in 1955 at San Diego, California for the purpose of harnessing the power of nuclear technologies for the benefit of mankind. General Atomics' basic research into fission and fusion has matured into competence in many technologies, making GA and its affiliated companies one of the world's leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely operated surveillance aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies. The Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Division of General Atomics is a supplier of advanced electromagnetic systems and related power equipment for a variety of defense, energy, and commercial transportation applications. EMS has leading-edge expertise in the design and fabrication of linear motors, superconducting and conventional rotating motors, power inverters, high-voltage DC power distribution systems, and numerous other energy conversion, distribution, and storage systems. EMS is a world leader in applying electromagnetic technologies to aircraft launch and recovery, projectile launch, and magnetic levitation ("maglev") systems.
